I will be heading back to my past dwellings when I bring Evie Tees to Wizard World Comic Con in Philadelphia from May 31 – June 3 . I am actually really excited about this convention! I lived all over the Philadelphia area, from Manayunk and East Falls to South Street, from, 2001-2005 and then went there every weekend for almost a year after I moved because all my friends were there and I didn’t really have any here in NYC for a while (tear). You can read updates about what convention I will be at next and where I will be on the floor here.
Beside me being at this convention, there is so many awesome stars to be seen there! Too bad, I will be manning my booth and really won’t be able to stalk them, I mean, check them out… Jason Priestley and Luke Perry are going to be there!! NEED I SAY MORE?? “(beep) You know the drill“. Please, is there anyone out there that knows that reference??? Oh dear, I just promised with my last blog post that my teenage squeeing behavior is over, and here I am acting like a silly school girl again. But come on, this is Dylan McKay and Brandon Walsh I am talking about! Such crushes! I loved them both, but it was Brandon that I loved the most. What did it matter that he was really almost in his 30’s when I was watching the show? I was about 13/14 years old, and he played a 16 year old, almost reality! Confession: when the show ended, after 10 years, I was in my mother’s living room, watching it alone, with my Brandon Walsh poster next to me. Ok, the poster was from when I was around 14 years old (I am 22 or 23 at the time the show ended), but I still had it rolled up in the back of my closet because I couldn’t bare to throw it away! But throw it away I eventually did. Too bad, how funny would it have been if I went up to him asking him to sign that poster? I seriously need to get the box set on DVD and watch it all over again. (Anyone remember when Branda and Kelly showed up at the prom in the same dress?)
Jason and Luke aren’t the only goodness that will be at this convention to see. Kristy Swanson will be there (ok, her and Luke are there together for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which I am a little ashamed to admit that I have never seen. adding to Netflix queue…). Chris Hemsworth is going to be there. Ok, I have no idea who this guy is, but he is super cute in his photo. Shannon Elizabeth from the American Pie movies is going to be there. Sam Witwer (Smallville), Paul Wesley (The Vampire Diaries), Dean Cain (Lois and Clark) and Jeri Ryan of Star Trek fame will be there as well. Just saw that Anthony Michael Hall is going to be there! I was just saying the other week that I wanted to make myself the perfect man, just like in Weird Science. Did you know that there was a Weird Science TV show in 1994 that lasted 5 seasons? I didn’t. Just saw it while looking up photos… Also, Joey Lawrence (WHOA) is going to be there! (seriously, we were just watching his old music video at work a couple weeks ago).
Now, I know you are going to be excited about this — the big ones – William Shatner and legend Stan Lee will be there as well. Sam Trammell is going to be there! Why can’t my dog be a super sexy hot guy shape-shifter?? Scott Bakula — I used to be such a fan of Quantum Leap! I would always get so anxious about his new leap – would he or won’t his next leap be the next leap home? Oh, the pressure of it all! And finally, Bruce Campbell. He is the man! I was actually only introduced to his awesomeness about 5 or 6 years ago when my old roommate (hi Dennis, I miss you!) was watching The Evil Dead. I admit, I wasn’t interested at first, but when I saw his sexiness, Bruce Campbell show up, I couldn’t stop watching! Never has anyone made being crazy with a chainsaw look so damn hot!
There are lots of awesome stars spanning so many geeky fandoms that are going to be there. Check out their website to see if one of your favorite celebrities will be there. And they are always adding more to their roster, so check back!
Philly is a lovely little city that I love and is so near and dear to my heart, and I am sure you will love it too. Besides the convention, you can go to the Italian Market, peruse South Street (always interesting), check out the Liberty Bell, go to Old City, or eat one of Philly’s world famous Philly Cheese Steaks (mmm, I am now craving one really badly). You can also visit one of my favorite places in this city — The Mosaic Gardens. I used to live on the block behind the Mosaic Gardens, and at the time, it wasn’t open to the public, but I was overly excited when I found out last year that is finally opened up and couldn’t wait to go inside. I was not disappointed. It was better than I ever imagined! Click on the website to find what it is all about! And you can’t forget about the Rocky Run. You have to run up the Art Museum stairs and pump your fists in the air like Rocky Balboa. It is a Philadelphia tradition.
Back to 90210. Here is the original opener to the show that only aired for half a season, before they replaced it with the iconic theme song that we all know today…
Once again, so sorry about the teenage behavior. I promise to try to keep it to a minimum from now on.
